nantucket sweater

Last week I posted my last summer-y outfit and I mentioned that I will be sharing something else that is perfect for fall, but still has that nautical look and style.  Let remind you of something...it's sweater weather!  Shop the look at the bottom of the page.

I like this sweater because I think it provides the perfect amount of warmth for a chilly day, yet I still feel like I have a little bit of the east coast with me.  It has a soft material, not cashmere soft, but comfortable and easy to enjoy.  I wore the sweater with jeans and my favorite pair of Jack Rogers.

I always seem to be  in the same scenario every fall.  When is the right time to put away the Jack Rogers?  I love this outfit because I think it gives me a chance to wear something that I think really works with the shoes.  Rolling the jeans once really added to the shoe, adding a little special touch.  Jack Rogers have a long time span for when you can wear them, which is late spring to mid fall.

I picked up this Coach bag from a thrift store and really liked it.  It's too "out of style" so they no longer carry this bag, but I think that any crossover bag would work.

old navy fall 2016

I am always searching for well priced, good quality clothes for two reasons. One, I am not rich so I need good clothes at a good price and two, I want it to be practical for my readers.  A brand that is always consistent, which you never can find is Old Navy.  To add on to the "practical price factor", one of the blogs I read Damsel in Dior recently wrote a post on how to turn a $30 Old Navy Dress into a $300 dress.

I have really been liking some of their fall clothing items, even though I think their winter selections are always the best.  First of all, I like their colors, the purples, browns, blues, reds, and oranges.  Secondly, I like the styles of their clothes so I decided to share them with you.

new running shoes

So so so excited right now!!  I am currently wearing my new shoes, loving my new shoes, and I can't stop thinking about them.  I don't mean to be bragging or rude right now, but my excitement level is through the roof.  Last year, I wrote a post on my Nike free runs and how much I enjoyed them.  I got the same shoe this year, and was pleasantly happy with the changes they have made with the shoes, but they do have some cons.  I decided to share them with you below.

Displaying FullSizeRender.jpg

pros

+ color
I know that color is really just a cosmetic touch to the shoe, but this grey really had me.  I know, I shouldn't base shoes on their color, but what person doesn't.  This grey/white combo is definitely my favorite, I also liked their white shoe.

+ the feel
The feel of the shoe is something what has the final say, well along with the look, is the fit, the feel, the comfort level.  Rule number one.  You never should buy a shoe if it's not comfortable.  I have crossed that path, and it's not worth it.  I love the fit of the Nike free run, for two reasons.  This type of shoe is very comfortable, by far my favorite fitted shoe.  It's wide, which I think leaves me a lot of room to wiggle my toes around.  I also have always loved the look, not color, but actual look of the shoe.

cons

+ the changes
Nike has changed up the shoe a little bit, as they do every year.  Here are my thoughts.  I'm honestly not really a fan of mesh so I don't really like the material they choose to use, but it works.  Not my favorite, but it works.  One of the things about the outside of the shoe that I've always liked is the sole and the ridges it has.  Normally they are straight up and down, but now they are a little slanted, which I don't really love, but then again, it works.

+ the fit
Along with some of their exterior changes I think that the fit of the shoe changed.  Personally I think the sole if less flexible where as my old Nike free run I  could easily flex my toes and the shoe would move with them.  As I said earlier I like the shoe because it is wider, but I also think the newer version is a little bit more narrow.

live a little

I think that life is about having fun.  You have to test yourself, go outside your comfort zone, do something daring.  I know it sounds a little cliche, but you really do only live once.  I think with fun and adventure you also have to relax and have mental check ups.  This photo is so relaxing to me.  The list below is what I look at to calm my self down and again, relax.

.:

I don't know about you but just looking at this photo makes me want to backpack across Europe or visit some great place. It's also sooo relaxing to me, I don't know why!

Here are some things I think you gotta do to relax and live a little!

Disclaimer: I do not have a direct source to credit owner of this list.

I think that sometimes we forget to give our selves just a second in the day to take a deep breathe.  Or a second to take time for yourself and not look at your phone or a screen.  I think you should follow the things on this list, but also take time for yourself.

Something that I started to do (actually I fell off, but I'm back again!)  Yoga.  I never really thought that I would enjoy doing yoga, because I'm not the most patient person, but I really like it.  I use a youtube channel/person, Adriene (channel here).  She has multiple thirty day, free programs that are fun and relaxing.

j. crew vol. 5

Alrighty,  I think this is my fifth J. Crew new arrival post.  I got the fall 2016 catalog in the mail and I know I say this every time, but this is my all time favorite catalog.  And I think this is my favorite collection they've had in a long time.

I mean look at this photo, but you know what tops it?  The dog!

Anyways, I picked out my favorite new arrivals or stuff that's been there that I just love!  I really like the nautical-fall style that these clothes have. I think it combines everything I need in my wardrobe.  I also included pictures from the catalog that were taking in Amsterdam that I like too.  P.S. You can shop the look by clicking the link which will lead you to the entire outfit on J. Crew's site.

fall esentails

Fall is here.  When I hear fall I think of a few things.  One: the clothes  Two: the weather Three: the food

One:

The clothes that I think of when I'm thinking of fall, which is my favorite season are the definition of of perfection.  I think cozy clothes that aren't too heavy, but are warm enough for the chill in the air.  Over sized sweaters and sweat shirts are 50% of what I wear.  And leggings and boots are just another piece to the puzzle.

Two:

The weather.  The cool breeze in the air with the cloudiness in the sky.  The crunchiness of the red and yellow leaves are like music to my ears.  Honestly, writing this right now makes me think I'm writing some type of poem, but it's true.  That's how fall is.

Three:

Lastly, the food.  Come on, if you don't think of Thanksgiving dinner and warm hot chocolate, I don't think that you have experienced it.  PSA: Food companies need to cool it with the pumpkin everything.

I just wanted my readers to know what fall meant to me and why I love it so much. I think there are some fall outfit staples that every person should have and need.  I decided to find my favorites that I need to have for fall.  Something I didn't find was a perfect pair of comfy leggings and the perfect "big sweater", both two things I think are so very necessary.

I want to also mention that later in the week I will be sharing my favorite clothing and shoes from Old Navy's fall 2016 collection.  Stay in touch by following along below!!

nyc

Four weeks ago I took a little trip up to the big city with some friends and family.  It had a blast up there, but I wanted to share my favorite places I went and places to go for beginners.  Some of these things/places will seem a little touristy, but you have to experience New York City the real way.

food.

pick a bagel

We ate here each day we were in New York.  The bagels were excellent and fresh.  Definitely try it out if you are looking for a good breakfast in the morning.

juniors

One word or two I can't even concentrate.  Cheesecake.  I had heard numerous recommendations, but I was hesitant to go because I thought it would be too touristy with it being located in Times Square  and all.  I highly recommend it and would go in a heartbeat for just a slice!

el blanco toro

delish.  I got their chicken quesadillas and I thought they were good.  As a group we also ordered some guacamole and salsa.  I have to say I'm not a huge fan of avocado and/or guacamole but it wasn't bad and the salsa was great with the fresh baked warm tortilla chips.

magnolia bakery

I stopped by Magnolia Bakery while walking around and decided to pop in.  It's a cute bakery and I would recommend it for anyone who wants a sweet treat.

starlight diner

We weren't able to see a Broadway show because not many shows are on Mondays. :(  We didn't know this so we went to Ellen's Starlight Diner and it was a show of it's own. Constant singing and what felt like mini broadway shows continued throughtout the course of our dinner.  The food, wasn't the best, but just a milkshake there would hit the spot.

places.

the met

We stopped at the Met, which was really fun.  1. it was air conditioning (and on a day where it's 100° ac is awesome!) 2. it is pay what you want, only have a dime? no problem!  P.S. The gift shop was so cool.  (pictured below) I was like a kid in a candy shop!

new york public library

Again, air conditioned and free.  The architecture was amazing.  The charm caught me at first sight especially with the park (mentioned below) right by it, so on our stroll we stopped there too.

bryant park

So cute.  I'm telling you again just how the library had charm so did this park.  The seats and people and dogs and trees were so perfect.  I absolutely loved the shade there was with all of the trees!  It was a very relaxed setting, it even had a yoga class going on!

rockefeller center

Well, there isn't much more to say about it!  Oh wait, there's also a J. Crew in there!

blue ruffle shirt

Summer is coming to an end, even though it's starting to feel like fall!!  Can you believe it?!  I am definitely not going to miss the heat, but I will miss the ability to over use Lilly and nautical looking clothes.  Something I love about wearing light blue denim and white together is that other than summer and fall I don't think you can't wear it in winter and spring.

I know a lot of bloggers get a lot of questions about transitioning into fall with clothes. I will be writing a specific post on this in a week or two.  This outfit works, I'm telling you!  I think it's almost a little like a last hoorah before I officially start wearing sweaters, leggings, boots, and big sweat shirts. (Oh, and Uggs, of course!)  I am actually so excited for fall because of the outfits I am sharing.  This is my last "summer like" outfit.  My next outfit that I will be sharing soon (so follow instagram) will be something nautical to wear when it gets a little chilly.

Ok, here's the good stuff, let's get shopping!  Or maybe just a little twirling around!

The shirt is currently only $30!  What a steal!  If I were you I would definitely grab one for next summer or this weekend!
